Meg came to the Branson area from rural Maryland to attend School of the Ozarks, now College of the Ozarks. There she met her husband Greg. After marrying, joining First Presbyterian Church, having a couple of children and growing through a few jobs, both went to work at Branson’s Hometown Radio. While Greg was an on-air personality, Meg was the corporate administrator while also serving on the Branson School Board and the University of Missouri Extension Counsel. Later, she came to work full-time at the church, where her passion already lay. She has been working for the church for over 30 years, but it’s more than a job: Meg has a calling and a heart to serve.
“Meg is the glue that holds this congregation together,” said Pastor Tom Willcox. “She has the most extensive knowledge base of what has happened and what is currently happening in the church as anyone. She has a real gift for connecting people to each other and to opportunities to serve.”
People contact the church for a variety of reasons, from those needing assistance in a crisis to a widow who needs a plumber she can trust, or those seeking meaningful connection. Making the connections and communicating with those who have a need are the most rewarding parts of her job, she said, adding, “I love to do the hard work.” She monitors the phone 24/7 because she wants to help make the church, as the living body of Christ, available to those in need.
“That’s who I am; this is my life,” Meg said. “I am confident in God’s call on my life, and I love what I do.”
Meg encourages anyone looking for a church home -- or just for a meaningful experience for visitors to the area -- to visit FPC Branson. “This is a good place if you want to feel like you’re part of the family,” she said.
And if you want deeper connections and meaningful opportunities, Meg is ready to help.
Meg and Greg Pyron married in 1978. They are both ordained Elders and have two adult children and six grandchildren.
